So the test kit says a POSITIVE.. congratulations! (note, negatives are a very obvious stark single horizontal line, whereas positives may show a faded cross). What now? (This is not scientific, just my personal views on 4 key things :P Also, we made our fair share of ‘bad buys’ so this is a personal take on what works in Sg… doesn’t mean it’s the best or only way!)
– All safe and confirmed? The vanity in me says 3rd thing is to buy stretch mark creams! Never too early to start and they really save mothers from watermelon-like streaks across the tummies. Smear all over the tummy (until upper thighs), sides, hips, lower back and even bum.. those tricky streaks can turn up anywhere!! I personally stand by Mustela’s stretch mark cream .

The playpen, on the other hand, is rather versatile. Important point is that the playpen should have bassinets to hang at varied levels (to protect daddy and mummy’s back when bending deep down to pick the baby up).  I did not fancy those with in-build music and vibrations etc. A basic one did well for us. In Singapore, one can get a pretty good deal for playpens at the bigger departmental stores’ sales. The playpen, with the soft netting can keep the child safely within till toddler years. Thereafter, a simple tilam
Is this important?? A BIG RESOUNDING YES! It is important for babies/ children to be strapped in safely when travelling. Many deaths have been averted. In recent reports, apparently reverse facing car seats increase the survival rates (compared to front-facing seats where necks can be snapped off the spine in high speed collisions). In the market currently, most infant car seats are reverse facing. Infants (up to 9 or 12 months or a certain weight) can be placed within. Parents have to buy another car seat, that is usually front-facing for babies above this age.
