Can you make your own cold air intake for a motorcycle?
I have a 2007 Sportster EFI and I want a cold air intake. I am thinking of using one of the conical KN filters but I was wondering what other parts I would need to assemble it and if it would work as well as one of the "kits" off of Ebay or similar. If you have done this please include a lit of parts and how to put it together thanks
Cold air intakes are used on cars and trucks because the intake is typically in the engine compartment where it can get quite warm. On the sportster the air filter/intake is mounted on the side of the engine where there is fresh cool air freely circulating.
Changing the air filter to a high capacity high performance filter will let the intake flow more freely. K&N makes these filters for both the 883 and 1200 sportsters.
