f you follow me on Twitter then you know Sunday was my big move to the Bay Area.Ā Everything was greatā¦my fiance and I left 15 minutes behind schedule (4:15AM) which isnāt bad for me because Iām always late.Ā In my mind I thought this is going to be great!Ā A 7 hour trip with my fiance then I finally get to settle in.Ā We were suppose to take turns driving but an hour into the trip he fell asleep.Ā I knew he was tired so it wasnāt a big deal and I knew he wouldnāt be sleep too long.Ā I was WRONG.Ā He was up for all but 20 minutes and at this point I had drove half way there.
Half way there I noticed that my engine seemed to be pulling and my RPM was high and I wasnāt going fast.Ā Out of nowhere it started going into the red and my car was slowing down.Ā I pulled overā¦the Man woke upā¦we saw smoke and he immediately started going off about me getting an oil charge.Ā Did I mention my car is an ā08, I have free maintenance, and he was on the damn phone with me two weeks ago while I got my car serviced.Ā Here we are in the middle on Cali in bum fuckinā nowhere in Coalinga with my hood up in the emergency lane.
I sat there with a blank look on my face, gave my Blackberry to my fiance and told him āI donāt care just handle it because I donāt know what to doā.Ā Since I only had the basic AAA membership they would only be able to tow us to the nearest which was a few miles away.Ā The gas station also had a mechanic shop next door as well as a hotel so I figured greatā¦they can fix it and weāll be on our way and if it takes a day then we can stay at the hotel.
We ended up at Kevinās Auto Repair and Tow (25032 West Dorris Avenue, Coalinga, CAā).Ā The mechanic (he will later be referred to as the base-head, also known as a meth-head or dope-head) told us it would be a minimum of 1 hour/ $85.00 to find out the issue and that fee would go towards any repair work that has to be done.Ā This is standard practiceā¦but I should known something was wrong because he couldnāt stop picking the countless open sores that covered his face, neck, hands, and arms to talk to me.Ā All he did was talk fast, twitch, and PICKā¦.typical base-head shit!Ā We sat there and watched him āworkā on my car.Ā All he did was wave the flash light over the engine a few times and of course PICK.Ā Within 5 or 10 minutes he found the problem.Ā Iām not surprised.Ā He told us that my throttle positioning system that was dead and that Nissan has it covered under my warranty but if I wanted it repaired there it would take a day to get the part and āVERY expensiveā to fix.Ā When I asked him how much he said about $700.00.Ā Of course he wasnāt going to try to take anymore of my money and come up with a real solution.Ā I paid the $85.00 knowing if his half-ass ādiagnosesā was wrong I could file a claim with Visa.Ā Now the bigger issue was getting the car towed to the nearest Nissan dealership.
